I used the "Let's Go" series of books as a hostel resource when I went, and they were all fairly decent. (And I'm a girl, so likely a little more particular than a group of guys. ... I would highly recommend if you do decide to go from mid June on, that you book ahead as much as possible so that you don't waste your days/nights looking for available hostels/hotels. ...
