I'm a bit puzzled about Bob's age - from what he says about when he was born, it sounds like it was sometime during World War II, and in between he and his father went to Uranus. Now it's 1950 and he's a grown-up? .... I know at the end of this Lemire is going for something deep inside Jepperd that will be explored eventually (at least that's what it feels like), but I'm just not connecting with it or the rest of the book.
